All Bella Donna Jewelry is finished in sterling silver. Sterling silver can scratch since it is a soft metal. It will tarnish over time if left in the open air. To prevent or have minimal tarnishing, store your jewelry in the plastic bag provided or in a tarnish proof jewelry box. Do not discard the small piece of paper included inside the plastic bag. This small piece of paper is an anti-tarnish strip and will keep your jewelry tarnish free for 6-12 months – guaranteed!
Sterling Silver Jewelry Care
Bella Donna Jewelry recommends using a polishing cloth to clean your jewelry. Make sure to keep your anti-tarnish strips inside the plastic bag provided along with your jewelry. Apply your make-up and/or hairspray before wearing your jewelry. These harsh products can damage your jewelry. You may use a mild detergent such as Dove or Ivory but make sure the jewelry completely dry before storing. Careful cleaning and care between wear will result in fewer problems.
DO NOT use Tarnex or any other abrasive or similar product. The use of Tarnex may cause damage to your jewelry.
DO NOT put jewelry in an ultrasonic cleaner.
Caring for Your Natural Pearls
Bella Donna Jewelry recommends using a mild soap and water solution (try Ivory flakes). You may also use Dove or Ivory soap as a mild cleaning agent. Make sure to keep your anti-tarnish strips inside the plastic bag provided along with your jewelry. Apply your make-up and/or hairspray before wearing your jewelry. These harsh products can damage your jewelry. Make sure to take off your pearl rings before applying any hand or body creams. Wipe your pearls with a soft, lint-free cloth as soon as you take them off. The cloth can be dampened with water or it can be dry. If damp, allow the pearls to air dry before putting them away. Never clean your pearls with solutions that contain ammonia or harsh detergents.
DO NOT put pearl jewelry in an ultrasonic cleaner.
DO NOT use abrasive cleaners or rub pearls with an abrasive cloth. Both can wear away the nacre coating, leaving you with a plain looking bead.
